The movie tells the story of a teenager (Yelchin) who suspects that his neighbour (Farrell) is a vampire after a large number of disappearances in the neighbourhood. First day reviews praised Colin Farrell's acting and critics said "Farrell's portrayal of a funny yet scary vampire is one of the best vampire villain in ages. The bushy browed Farrell was born to wear fangs". The 3D effects in the movie have also been praised with the screen hurling blood, flying shards of glass and crucifixes towards the audience.
